After losing the toss and being sent to bat first, the Delhi Capitals were struggling to get a run on the board when a heated exchange took place between Ravichandran Ashwin and some players of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
In the last over of the Delhi Capitals innings, Ravichandran Ashwin was dismissed by Tim Southee after making a pool shot mistake and Nitish Rana took the catch in the deep backward square. The events that followed were not the most joyful.
Looking at Ashwin, it seemed that something had happened and the matter could have easily turned into something big. However, Dinesh Karthik stepped forward to intervene and sent Ashwin back to the dressing room.
Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting was seen chatting with umpire Nitin Menon after the first innings. It remains to be seen what this chat was about and whether it was linked to the incident.
