WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Progressive Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have enough votes to block a সামাজিক 1 trillion infrastructure bill until an agreement is reached on a larger social spending bill that Speaker Nancy Pelosi has won, their leader said Thursday.

Progressives have long said they will not vote in favor of the infrastructure bill, which was passed in the Senate in bipartisan support in August, until details of the larger bill – once targeted at $ 3.5 trillion – were worked out.

“There are not too many votes to pass today,” Jaipal said. “We need the text and we need to vote on both bills in the House at the same time.”

Jaipal further said he was not rejecting a direct call for support for the president, noting that Pelosi and Biden did not call for a vote on Thursday.

“He didn’t,” Jaipal told reporters earlier. “He said he wanted to vote on both bills. And he said that what we do on these two bills is going to be decisive for how the world sees us.”
