Two killed, four injured in Idaho Mall shooting

A regular weekend at an Idaho mall turned fatal on Monday afternoon. According to Boyce Police Chief Ryan Lee, a gunman opened fire at a Boyce Town Square shopping mall, injuring four people and killing two others.

One police officer was among the injured. Officers exchanged fire with the suspects, according to AP News. Later, the unidentified suspect was taken into custody.

“There was an exchange of a gun which took place shortly afterwards, injuring the officer, as well as taking the suspect into custody,” Chief Ryan said.

Police are reportedly guarding the scene and looking for additional casualties. Investigators are not concerned about any additional danger to the Idaho public regarding this shooting. Moreover, they believe that only one shooter was involved.

However, no additional information has been released about the suspected gunmen or the dead. Police are simultaneously investigating the situation and are working with Idaho Hospital officials to contact family members of the injured and the dead.

Police were called to the scene of the shooting around 1:50 p.m., local time, AP News reported. After they arrived at the scene of the shooting, they were confronted by someone who matched the description. At the moment, police say they are unable to identify the motive behind the incident. Chief Ryan says all speculation is premature, according to the AP.

“I can’t stress enough how painful this incident is for the larger community, as well as those who were eyewitnesses, or the families of those involved or involved,” Chief Ryan said.

Boise Mayor Lauren McLean echoed Chief Ryan’s feelings while speaking at the Idaho shooting.

Mayor Lauren said “countless people have found themselves in a situation they never expected or should have done.”

He continues to admire shopkeepers and other mall attendees.

“You have shown in a difficult and chaotic moment how caring you are and what you are willing to do to support and care for strangers,” Mayor Lauren said.

This is a developing story.
