COPENHAGEN (Reuters) – The current spike in energy prices has not been triggered by the problem of green transformation, International Energy Agency (IEA) director Fatih Biral said on Thursday.
“Some people are trying to portray the current high energy prices as the first crisis of the clean energy transition. This is completely wrong,” Biral said at a conference in Copenhagen.
He warned that such an opinion could slow down important policy steps at the COP26 climate conference in Glasgow.
“Clean energy transitions have nothing to do with the current situation in the energy market. If there is a link, it is not because there is a lot more clean energy, but there is very little,” Biral said.
