Shawn Clifford Injury Update: Penn State Quarterback Leaves Game in Second Quarter vs. Iowa

Penn State injuries tend to get hurt, but this can be the most important.

Shawn Clifford went to the medical tent in the second quarter of the Nittani Lions matchup against Cl Iowa before heading to the locker room later. It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

After leaving the locker room at half-time, Clifford returns to the sidelines after a street outfit because he won’t return to the game.

During that drive, he threw three incomplete passes after running Penn State on the Iowa 14-yard line, and the Nitani Lions were forced to score a field goal.

Before leaving the game, Clifford led Penn State 17-3. He completed 25 of 15 passes for 146 yards without any touchdown passes and two interceptions, and he ran with a score three times for 36 yards.

Redshirt sophomore Ta’Quan Roberson came for Clifford. This season, Roberson has completed 4-of-7 passes for 51 yards, including touchdowns. According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings, he was the No. 247 national player and No. 8 double-threat quarterback at the 2019 Calls.

In the first drive of Roberson’s game, he fumbled the first snap and almost put a stop to the second play he led. Penn State was then called up for three false starting penalties, before Kevin Lee gained three yards to make a three-out.

Early in the game, wide receiver Kendre Lambert-Smith had to leave the game due to a lower body injury after catching 30-yards in the first quarter to touch Penn State on the Iowa 7-yard line. The Nitani Lions made two plays after Clitford ran into the last zone from four yards out. Lambert-Smith later returned to the game.
