St. Paul police said a gunfight at a bar in Minnesota on Sunday morning apparently involved several gunmen, including one killed, at least one injured, and the hail of bullets caused panic and “insanity.”
No arrests were made and no motive has been identified, St. Paul Police Chief Todd Extel said.
“My heart goes out to the dead woman, her loved ones and everyone else at the bar,” Axtel said in a statement. “Instantly, they find themselves trapped in a hellish situation.”
Axtel said multiple 911 callers begged for help after shooting more than a dozen people inside a truck park on Seventh Street. He said officers responded at 12:15 pm local time to find a “chaotic scene” in which 15 people were injured by gunfire.
Officel said officers worked well with Samaritans to help the injured and to ensure the scene was safe and that it was safe for doctors. He said preliminary information from the scene indicated that there were several shooters.
A 20-year-old woman was pronounced dead in St. Paul, a town of 200,000 people, the nd2nd murder of the year. The city is on track to surpass a total of 34 homicides last year, setting a record that has stood for nearly 30 years.
“We have a very busy bar, a lot of people are just enjoying themselves and then we had a few people who pulled out a gun and decided to pull the trigger indiscriminately, without bothering people’s lives,” said police spokesman Steve Linders. “And I think of the poor woman who just went to enjoy herself. One minute she’s dancing, laughing and laughing, and the next day she’s dying in her friend’s lap. This is nothing less than a tragedy. ”
The Ramsay County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and positively identify him. The injured were taken to an area hospital for treatment but were expected to survive, Axtel said.

Investigators urged anyone with information to come forward. A team of investigators into the killings was working with patrol officers, the forensic service unit, the video management unit and others to determine the shooting. Excel said.
The scene was being processed for evidence and the shooting was reconstructed. Oxtell said victims are being interviewed for signals.
“I want them to know that we have the best investigators in our country and we will not stop until we find those responsible for this madness,” he said. We will do our part to hold them accountable. ”
