Top 10 shows in the first 28 hours of viewing after release. Over the years, Netflix has been notorious for releasing very little information about how widely its shows and movies have been viewed, only occasionally mentioning the number of subscribers who watched a program for at least two minutes, a metric that doesn’t actually reflect how many people watched the whole thing.

While the hour-view metric is a more accurate measure of what its viewers are seeing, by nature it favors series with longer-and-longer-episodes. It also supports the new release, as Netflix’s subscriber growth has increased over the past few years. Furthermore, the numbers are not verified by an independent source; There is no comparatively industry-wide audience metrics for streaming because Nielsen ratings are for broadcast and TV only.
