According to CNN, Lasley County, Illinois coroner confirmed the tragic news through forensic dental identification and DNA testing The cause of death is unknown at the moment.
Day’s family said in a statement, “We are heartbroken. We say you keep praying for our family which will be very difficult in the days ahead. There are more questions than answers about Jelani’s disappearance and death at the moment, and from there we will focus on our strengths. “

The day was last seen on Aug. 24 in surveillance footage of an entrance to a dispensary in Bloomington, Illinois. His car was located on August 26 in Peru, Illinois, about 60 miles from the dispensary.
