WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of Chinese telecom company Huawei Technologies, will appear in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday, according to a court calendar.
A person familiar with the situation told Reuters Meng would virtually attend.
Huawei could not immediately be reached for comment.
Meng was arrested at Vancouver International Airport in December 2001 on a U.S. warrant, accusing him of cheating HSBC about Huawei’s business dealings in Iran.
He said he was innocent and was fighting for his extradition from Canada to the United States. Meng is confined to Vancouver and is monitored 24/7 by personal security which he provides as part of his bail agreement.
The trial of his extradition case ended in August, with a verdict set for October 21.
