Gabriel PetitoHis life was honored at a public memorial service on Sunday, September 2nd.
Family, close friends and hundreds of mourners gathered in Holbrook, New York for a live stream in tribute to the 22-year-old YouTuber. Several members of Gabby’s family and close friends gave ongoing talks with her father during the service, Joseph Petito, Who shared memories in honor of his slain daughter.
“Gabby is the most amazing person I’ve ever met,” he said in his compliment. “I’m telling you, you have to be inspired by the way he treats people … he really loves people.”
“When you leave today, be inspired by what he brought to the table,” he added, adding, “As a father, I can no longer be proud.”
Gabby was found dead last weekend after disappearing at the end of a cross-country road trip with her fianc in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming, Brian Laundry, Who are currently looking for authority.
“If you want to take a trip, take it now,” said Gabby’s father, praising him.
Gabir’s honest father Jim Schmidt, Who traveled to Wyoming to help find her and paid tribute to her where her body was found, also spoke at the memorial service. He talked about a tattoo on his arm that read, “Let It Be”, the title of the famous song. The The Beatles, One of his favorite bands.
“It’s okay to mourn for Gabby. It’s okay to feel sorrow and pain,” he said. “But we want to celebrate him and how he spent his life. We need to hold on to all those wonderful memories we shared with him because that would be the answer. Let’s go.”
Instead of flowers, the Petito family is seeking a grant for the foundation in his name.
