Jesse Benton, a campaign worker for Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell, has been accused of trying to run Russian money on Trump and the RNC.
Paul / McConnell Russia Connection Resurface
Business Insider reports:
In an illegal allegations of September, prosecutors allege that Jesse Benton “conspired to smuggle thousands of dollars in foreign money from a Russian foreign national” into the operation.
In October 2016, Benton received a স্থান 100,000 cable transfer from an unnamed Russian citizen, alleging that he promised to “meet a celebrity” on September 22, 2016 at a fundraiser in Philadelphia.
Prosecutors did not name the candidate, but former President Donald Trump is raising funds overnight in Ritz-Carlton, Center City, Philadelphia.
Benton identified Russian cash as “consulting work,” kept a cut for himself and donated the rest to a campaign, possibly Trump.
Former McConnell and Paul employees had already been convicted of money laundering related to the Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign, but Trump pardoned him, who happened to be a potential man with Russian cash.
Jesse Benton could go to jail for a very long time. There are six charges against him, each of which carries a sentence of 5-20 years.
The Republican Party seems to be plagued by Russia’s cash and influence, and the threat to democracy has bought itself a political party.
