UN (Reuters) – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday slammed the world for the unequal distribution of the Covid-1 vaccine, describing it as “obesity” and the world as “F in morality”.
Speaking at the annual UN summit of world leaders in New York, Guterres said pictures of parts of the world with expired and unused vaccines in the garbage told the “story of our time” – more than 90% of Africans in the richest world did not receive a single dose.
At the UN General Assembly, Guterres said: “This is a moral complaint of our world. This is obscenity. We have passed the science test.

As the coronavirus is still in its infancy, nearly a third of the 193 UN states are sending videos again, but for the rest, the president, prime minister and foreign minister have traveled to the United States.
Of the 5.7 billion doses of coronavirus vaccine administered worldwide, only 2% are in Africa. Guterres is pushing for a global plan to vaccinate 70% of the world in the first half of next year.
The secretary-general, who begins his second five-year term as head of the world body on January 1, also warned of growing tensions between the world’s superpowers চ China and the United States.
“I fear that our world is moving in two different directions: economic, trade, financial and technological, two different approaches to the development of artificial intelligence – and ultimately two different military and geopolitical strategies,” he said.
“It’s a recipe for trouble. It’s much less predictable than the Cold War,” Guterres said.
