Roommates, the 2021 American Music Awards have come up with some of the biggest and brightest stars in the music industry — and some of your choices have certainly not disappointed! Doza Kat and Megan Thi Stallion went on to win multiple American Music Awards that made them the biggest winners of the night, with Chloe Bailey taking her ‘Have Mercy’ performance to a new level and Cardi B proving that being a regular award show host for her future.
Many of the early winners of the 2021 American Music Awards were in the R&B and hip hop categories, where Doza Cat and Megan Thi Stallion both picked up an impressive broom. Doza Cat has won three American Music Awards for Favorite Female R&B Artist, Favorite R&B Album and Best Collaboration of the Year. Meanwhile, Megan Thi Stallion has won awards for Favorite Female Hip Hop Artist, Favorite Hip Hop Album and Favorite Trending Song.
One of the most anticipated performances of the night was Chloe Bailey, who performed her hit single ‘Have Mercy’ with a new twist featuring a step-team breakdown at the end. Earlier, though, chart-topping R&B group Silk Sonic kicked off the show with their latest single ‘Smokin’ Out of the Window’s first awards show performance.
There were also some memorable moments during the American Music Awards, courtesy of Cardi B, the host of the show. An energetic, fashionable opening solo song until a hilarious exchange with Jojo Siva, Cardi was on his material all night long.
There was a sad moment during the show when Brandi talked about the AstroWorld tragedy and said that everyone should continue to keep the victims in their prayers.
Overall, this show was the perfect way to end a week that was very heavy. See you next year!
