Drama The Crown and comedy Ted Lasso topped television’s Emmy Awards, when The Queen’s Gambit was declared the best limited series which turned out to be a powerful nightmare for streaming giants, Netflix and British acting talent.

The Crown was named Best Drama Series by giving Netflix its biggest award during the ceremony on Sunday, when Ted Lasso entered the big league of Apple TV + streaming, winning the best comedy series centering on the fate of a struggling English football club and their American manager – AppleTV + First for this.

Olivia Coleman and Josh O’Connor won the Top Performing Emmy for their performances in the recent series The Crown, which took place in the 180’s when Margaret Thatcher was British Prime Minister and married Prince Charles to Princess Diana.

Coleman and O’Connor, who played Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, were voted best actors and actresses.

Fellow British Thespian Kate Winslet was nominated for Best Actress for her role as a small town detective in the HBO Limited series Mer of Easttown, while Ian McGregor was honored for her role in Netflix’s Halston.

The Crown also won support for supporting actors Jillian Anderson, who played Thatcher, and Tobias Menzies, who played Prince Philip, as well as writing and directing.

“We are all thrilled. I am very proud. I am very grateful. We’re going to the party, “said playwright Peter Morgan at a rally in London for the cast and crew.

Ted Lasso’s star and co-producer Jason Sudekis was voted Best Comedy Actor, and British Hannah Wadingham and Brett Goldstein were honored for their supporting roles.

“This show is about family. This show is about mentors and teachers and this show is about peers. And without these three things in my life, I wouldn’t be here, ”Sudekis said of receiving the award.

The popular Queen’s Gambit, which spreads the word about chess worldwide, received awards for the best limited series, against stiff competition from programs including Mar of Easttown and I May Destroy U.
