Coronavirus effects worsen India’s educational divide, UN agency Reuters reports

NEW DELHI (Reuters) – School closures in India and the lack of smartphones and internet access for its children amid the Kovid-1 pandemic epidemic have exacerbated the educational divide, the UN cultural agency said, putting young people at risk for the future.

According to a UNESCO report, about 28 million students have been closed since March last year, although many Indian states have begun to ease restrictions in the past two months as infections and vaccinations have increased.
