- Her body was found near the Wyoming campground last month.
Wyoming medical examiner who performed the autopsy on 22-year-old Gabby Petito is scheduled for a news conference later Tuesday to discuss the results.
Teton County Coroner Dr. Brent Blue ruled Petito’s death a homicide but did not provide further details. Her disappearance last month and her subsequent discovery of her body sparked intense interest across the country and encouraged her to find her missing fianc ব্র Brian Laundry.
Petito was on a cross-country road trip with Laundry, occasionally posting happy pictures and stories on social media. But the police video soon caused problems between them, at one point the officers separated them for the night after a domestic dispute.
Laundry was last seen a few days before Pedito’s body was found. He told his parents he was going hiking in Carlton Reserve, a vast desert and wetland area near his Florida home that laundry and petito shared with his parents. An extensive, week-long search was conducted for his disappearance.
Who were the petito and laundry?
The two were high school sweethearts in Long Island, New York. Laundry’s parents later moved to North Port, Florida, miles5 miles southeast of Sarasota, and the young couple later moved in with their parents.
They left Long Island in July for Oregon on a month-long national park and other site trip. On September 1, Laundry returned to Florida alone, and 10 days later, Petito’s parents filed a missing persons report in late August without hearing from him. Petito’s body was found on September 1.

Friction between laundry and petito
In Utah, the Grand County Sheriff’s Office has released a 911 call since Aug. 12, where the caller said he drove into the couple’s van and witnessed “the gentleman slapping the girl.”
Body camera video showed Petito breaking down in tears as he stopped on a sidewalk near Arches National Park in Utah. The footage showed a police officer talking to Laundry, who said there had been friction between the two for several days, although authorities at the scene took no action other than telling the couple to stay apart for the night.

Finding Brian Laundry
Authorities used drones, sniffer dogs and all-terrain vehicles, and investigators took some of her clothing from her parents’ home to sniff out the dog. TV personality Duan Lee Chapman, better known as “Dog the Bounty Hunter”, was among the investigators and promised to catch Laundry before his 24th birthday on November 18.
North Port police have described Carlton Reserve as “huge and unforgivable” because they are leaving “dangerous work” for investigators as they walk through gator- and snake-infested swamps and flooded hiking and biking trails.
Clouds of black bears, coyotes, bobcats, panthers and creeping insects also populate the reserve, said Mark Burroughs, a local survival expert. Everything is wet, almost nothing is edible, and safe drinking water is nowhere to be found, he said.
“If he’s there in the Carlton Reserve, he’s living in hell,” Burroughs said earlier.

Laundry’s sister pleads with her brother to turn himself in
Authorities said neither Laundry nor his family members cooperated in trying to find Petito in the days following the news of his disappearance. Now Laundry’s family is seeking help with her disappearance. In an interview last week, Laundry’s sister Casey Laundry said she didn’t know where she was.
“I’ll bring him back,” he told ABC News in an interview aired last week. “I’m worried about him. I hope he’s okay, and then I’m angry and I don’t know what to think. I’ll tell my brother just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess.”
Casey Laundry said she had tried to contact Brian Laundry since she went missing, but the phone calls went by voicemail. He said he personally last saw her on September 6 during a family camping trip.
“There was nothing weird about it. There was no feeling of grand farewell. There was nothing,” he said.
Laundry faces charges, but not in Petito’s death
Laundry Petito refused to speak to law enforcement during the search, and he disappeared before his body could be found. No charges were brought against him in his death, but allegations of unauthorized use of debit cards and more than a thousand dollars were leveled against him. The documents do not say who the card or account is.
The complaint also charged Laundry with unauthorized access to a device and said he used a bank account without permission from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1.
