British MP David Ames has announced a deadly stabbing terrorist attack

Conservative British MP Sir David Ames was stabbed to death in a church on Eastwood Road in Le-On-C, Essex today.

David Ames was stabbed more than once in a meeting with church partners.

A 25-year-old man from the Somali heritage site ran into the church and stabbed David Ames more than once, then sat down and waited for police to arrive.

Paramedics worked to rescue the politician on the floor of an Essex church for more than an hour but were unable to do so after the horrific attack.

On Friday evening, the Metropolitan Police declared the killing of Sir David Ames a terrorist attack.
It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post.

The Metropolitan Police said:

The deadly stabbing at Le-on-C has been declared a terrorist incident tonight through an investigation led by County Terrorism Police.

The investigation is being led by Met Counter Terrorism Command who are working closely with colleagues from the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit (ERSOU) and Essex Police.

Dean Hayden, senior national coordinator of counter-terrorism policing and deputy assistant commissioner, officially declared the incident a terrorist act. Preliminary investigations have revealed a possible motive associated with Islamic extremism.

Essex police responded to an incident at an address on Eastwood Road North in Essex shortly after 12:05 a.m. Friday, October 15.

Officers at the scene found signs of stabbing multiple people. He was given emergency treatment by the emergency services, but sadly died on the spot.

Although official identities have not yet been obtained, the man, identified as Sir David Ames, is a Member of Parliament for the South West. Specialist officers are assisting his family.

A 25-year-old British man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in the custody of a police station in Essex.
