Last week, CBS’s “Big Brother” competition ended its 2nd season Xavier’s practice Wearing the crown of the season winner has created his winning history as he became the first black winner in the show’s history. However, the world knew that early in the season would become a historic historic finalist with six finalists left at home. They all formed an alliance known as “The Cookout”, which in itself was a historic moment.
The show’s runner-up Derek Frasier was also worth a look as he brought his own level of excitement to the house and fought week after week to make it to the final two. Although he came in second, he left with a 75,000 prize.
We caught up with Derek to talk about his time on the show, what he was able to take from the experience, his future plans and much more.
This season of Big Brother will go down in history forever because the final six contestants were all black, and Xavier Prathar was crowned as the winner of the show and you were the runner-up. How do you feel knowing that you are part of such a historic moment in the history of the show?
It’s amazing to be part of such a big movement, especially on a platform like Big Brother. Knowing that all six of us have been created in the end because of being African-American decent is really how our community can work together and build together no matter what (as black people). I still can’t believe I came in second but I’m so happy for Xavier. He and I made a final two on the first day and we knew we would be brothers throughout the game so I would be very happy if I at least lost against him.
“The Cookout” is a great example of what our community can achieve when it comes to sticking together. Why was it important for you and your classmates to show it to the audience?
Cookout is a very good example for the black community because it shows that no matter what happens at the end of the day we just stay with each other and you never let anyone break a black community and we wanted to show it because at the end of the day it is a reality show but we are always family.
What was the toughest competition for you to finish your time at home?
The toughest competition had to be ‘Four of Kind’, which was when I competed for the second part of the HOH competition against Azhar and it was tough because I couldn’t do it anyway because of the size. To stand and run on that wheel. It was very frustrating because I wanted to win very badly but I couldn’t do it physically and I ended my knee very badly, but I wanted to show people that no matter how big you are, you can always do something.
What would you say is the most important lesson you learned while competing on the show?
What I learned on the show is that life is short and you should cherish every moment with your friends and family and the people you love because when you are at home for three months and everything goes away from you, you really do your life and the ones you love And think about how you want to get out of the house and how you want to be a strong person. And you want to show everyone that they are important to you. So I am so grateful that I got the call to wake up in the room where I was and I think God for that.
Have you seen yourself join another competition based show?
No, no doubt, I would love to do another competitive show, I think I don’t have to worry about anyone other than me this time, and I can really be the dirty villain I want to be and have fun with. And if not, I want to do my own show. You know I’m single and I’m looking for love! My life is very interesting especially being the son of smoky Joe Frazier!
Would you say one thing that you expect viewers to go away with when they see you on the show?
I hope the audience will see that I was there the whole time. Also, remember, no one in life has any of you, you have your own which is me, me and I. Never let anyone judge you for your decision or who you are! Or the person you want to be because the people who know you are the people closest to you!
