Celebrities are searching for the missing 19-year-old woman, who authorities say was spotted Friday night in an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida in Orlando where she worked.
Mia Marcano’s story is touching many people – who are sharing her information on social media in the hope that she will be found safe – Mia’s family said she went missing a few hours before she was due to travel home to Fort Lauderdale, according to WESH 2.
Orange County officials say Mia Marcano was last seen at the Arden Villas apartment around 5pm on Friday. Investigators described him as 5 feet tall and weighed 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
Orange County deputies conducted searches inside, outside and around the apartment complex on Saturday as the Mia family traveled from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando to speak with detectives.
Mia’s father, Marlon Marcano, told WESH-2 that his daughter lived and worked in the leasing office for the apartment complex. Her father said he spoke to Mia on Friday afternoon, but did not hear anything from her when he left work.
He added that Mia was supposed to catch a flight to her family home that night, but she said she never boarded the plane.
“A big problem for those who have recently relocated is that the gate we have is not always closed and people always want to keep it closed,” a resident of the apartment complex told the news station. “I think especially after that, I’ll agree with them.”
Authorities did not name any suspects or interested people, although there were unconfirmed rumors on social media that Mia had been snatched from the apartment complex.
Investigators are asking that anyone with information about Mia Marcano’s disappearance contact the OCSO non-emergency number at 407-836-4357. If anyone sees him, they are requested to call 911 immediately.
