Law enforcement agencies in Orange County, Florida, announced Monday that they have found the body of a man interested in the case of missing teenager Mia Marcano.
The body of Armando Manuel Caballero was found in a Seminole County apartment complex, Orange County Sheriff John Mina revealed Monday. He died by an obvious suicide.
Caballero, a maintenance worker at the Orlando apartment complex, where 19-year-old Marcano also worked and lived, was named an interested person in the case because investigators discovered he used the master key to enter the Marcano apartment last Friday afternoon.
Mina said Caballero, 227, had a romantic interest in Marcano, who “repeatedly rejected” his progress, Mina said.
Police are still investigating when Caballero died, but Mina said he appears to have died “for quite some time.”
“Investigators suspect he did a bad job,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Monday regarding Marcano’s disappearance.
At a news conference on the same day Monday, Marcano’s aunt said she was hopeful her niece would still be found alive.
“Mia, this message is for you,” said her aunt, Pia Scarbriel Henry. “I know you’re alive. I know you’re there. We love you You know we won’t sleep a night until we get to your house. ”
Marcano is described as 5 feet tall and weighs about 130 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen at the Arden Villas Apartment Complex in Orlando, where he was wearing a red shirt, jeans and a black hoodie.
